I'm arrived!

Il posto è abbastanza strano, si tratta di una cittadina universitaria, abitata al 90% da studenti. Per adesso ho solo fatto una visitina al mio "kot", l'appartamento dove vivrò in qst giorni; non sembra male, la mia camera è abbastanza ordinata, ma fuori da li c'è un po' di caos. Ci sono altri 9 ragazzi, se non sbaglio, stasera li conoscerò.

Ora mi trovo nel laboratorio, dove ho conosciuto un po di gente, ho mangiato e ho iniziato a sistemare le mie cose.

Vi farò sapere piu avanti, magari con qualche foto,

Tamaryokucha review

Today it's Tamaryokucha time!

The great tea we choose for this tasting is Tamaryokucha, one of the finest qualities of Japan tea. This particular one comes from a nice shop in Milan, 'La Teiera Eclettica', whose teas are imported by Mariage Freres, one of the most popular European tea vendors (Paris).

Tamaryokucha is grown and harvested the same way as straight-leaf sencha, and it's processed the same way, except for the very end of the teamaking process, where the leaves are rolled to make them curly. this is its peculiar carachteristic, that make it unique among japan green teas.

I used 2 tea spoons with 200 ml of natural water @ 85° (even if I usually let the water cool a little bit more, is it right Pusa??). The dry leaves smell incredibly sweet and grassy, and look quite broken but healty.

We started with two infusions of chinese green tea Guzhang Maojiang, as a warm up for our mouth ;-) Then we are ready to start with Tama.

For the first steep, 120 seconds were enough. The liquor is quite clear and bright. We immediatly noticed that this tea has a cleaner, more complex aroma and yields a more delicate and lighter brew than the usual sencha. Anyway, it leaves a feel of bitterness that permeates your mouth sip after sip, and an astringent aftertaste.

The second steep came out greatly! First of all, it has a deep emerald green that is very pleasant for our eyes (as you can see in the picture above). Then, the bouquet is fairly rich, with a stronger vegetal flavour but a less complex aroma.

At this point the leaves are stressed enough, as you can see in the picture, and a third steep would provide a very poor tea: we decide that it is sufficient for our verdict:

The quality of this tea is very good, a half span above O Cha's daily sencha.

Rating: 8.5 / 10

Conclusion: I would recommend this tea either to tea beginners and to long time tea drinkers: its blend is rich and tasty, and is supposed to give you very pleasant times of relaxation and meditation.
